I had the opportunity to help a corporate magician brand his trade show performers course. This included a logo, social graphics, business card, powerpoint template and an advertisement.
After talking with my client to gauge his objectives and visual interests, I came up with a number of concepts for the logo and presented a number of concepts for him. These options ranged from depicting performance platforms, expo badges, and stylized performers.
My client really liked the options I brought forth and ended up going with option 5. This option depicts a performer standing behind a podium which contains the workshop name.
At this point, I did some color exploration and gave my client a number of options to choose from, which he chose option 2, the darker purple.
With the logo completed, I could now build out the other pieces.
First was graphic for two Facebook groups. One general group to draw interest in the topic of trade show performing and the other one for a private group that the workshop attendees would interact in. These Facebook graphics differentiated by color and also involved a small variation of the logo. I also designed them so that the logo would show nicely in the “search circles” in Facebook.
For the next pieces, I worked with both my client and a copywriter to layout a magazine ad and a free PDF ebook to be used as an “opt-in magnet” in return for email addresses.
This ad went into Genii, a trade magazine for magicians, with the objective to drive interested people to my client’s website to pick up the free PDF ebook…
…for which I designed the cover and the layout inside. This in combination with his social media efforts allowed him to build his email list and in turn, sell out his first workshop.
My client did most of his promoting online via Facebook, but he also wanted a business/promo card that he could handout at an industry convention to interested people. It was a quick and simple design, and this is what we came up with.
Finally, he had to put together his online workshop and for that he was going to use Powerpoint to create his slides. I also helped him with creating a branded Powerpoint template that he could use to build out his presentations. Overall, it was a successful launch and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to have helped him brand this new venture.
