My wife and I love Disney. A lot. Therefore, we are frequent visitors to Disneyland and after years of visiting with our kids, we thought it would be a good idea to share our experience and tips with others who want to visit with their own young children and still have a great time.
This prompted us to start writing a book on the subject which in turn spurred a number of other creative pieces that would include a podcast, lead magnet ebook, scavenger hunts, and various other pieces of content. It quickly became evident that I would need to create a brand to encompass all of these pieces so it would all work together in one coherent brand.
Megan’s sister actually came up with the name Go Mouse Scouts and we fell in love with it. We decided that we wanted to really play up the idea of merit badges and vintage scouting books or guides. For the logo, I wanted to create a meaningful icon that we could build this brand off of and thought that cheese would be perfect! After all, what are mice always after? This icon also represents chasing after knowledge and experience, the exact item we’re providing.
Since our ebook guide (which you may download here in its entirety) was about visiting Disneyland with kids, I wanted to feature photography of our family and kids to immediately tell that story. I also came up with more of a muted earthy palette.
For the inside, I drew inspiration from vintage scouting books for the layout and typography. This also meant that I had the opportunity to create badge icons for each different chapter of the book. I especially love how these turned out.
Within this brand we also produced a podcast and other various pieces.
